A Monster of Awesome Proportions
According to Wikipedia: Cthulhu is a cosmic entity that first appeared in the short story “The Call of Cthulhu”, published in the pulp magazine Weird Tales in 1928. The character was created by writer H. P. Lovecraft.
A while back I was approached by a wonderful friend, asking for help locating a pattern, or if I would be able to write one for aparticular “crazy hat”.
She showed me a photo of the kind of hat she was speaking about, and I immediately recognised the mystical character…This friend is one of the members of the tiny team behind the charity RACPA (UK) so of course, I was all ears.
Since I work free form, and most of my designs are my own, I have the ability to literally “sculpt” the yarn into whatever shapes I want, and this means I can replicate almost anything into woolly form. This helps massively in projects where I am converting a character, drawing or animal into a hat.
There was a discussion about a written pattern, and since I was and still am new to pattern writing, I find it easier to make these things than to write instructions for how to make them. Of course I keep notes, but turning those Mumblicious notes into something usable by others is a daunting task. I’m learning. Slowly.
I’m delighted to announce that there is now a pattern for this hat, it’s completed its testing phase and is listed in my digital store! But you know what? Just to make things nice and simple I’ve added my faith buy now and add to cart buttons here to help you spend your money.
Thoughtful, huh?
All profits from sales of this particular pattern will be donated to RACPA (UK).
The hats I myself have made in developing the pattern have also been donated to this fantastic cause, to raise funds in support of their efforts.
Cthulhu inspired character hats are also available to custom order in any size, colour(s) or yarn of your choice. Please check the custom order gallery for current prices and designs. Each one is crafted by hand. Due to the design it is not suitable for young children.
