Hookers Day Off Project

After much discussion about afghan blankets, making countless decisions over colour, style, pattern, yarn, texture, hook size (yeah, you seriously wouldn’t believe the amount of questions that need to be answered to make ONE item) and a shortlist compiled for the mystery super secret afghan (to be revealed late 2014) I realised there were several afghans I wanted to make for no particular reason at all.  Maybe they’ll be gifts, maybe they’ll be available for sale.  Maybe they’ll be giveaways.  Who knows. That part is not yet decided.

My job is awesome.  I spend my days and weeks crocheting.  Hours upon hours of looping thousands of yards of wonderful yarns with my beautiful hooks and creating something that raises smiles and generates happies.  This brings me joy like no other job ever.  So much so that when I take a day off from “work” (custom orders) I continue crocheting to some degree.

So welcome to the Hookers Day Off Project.

This means I can play with new yarns, patterns, designs, make things for the little people and other family members or friends, try out new ideas or simply work on something that nobody is waiting for.  Difficult choices to make just to settle on ONE, but I’m sure we’ll manage?!

The first project piece is going to be fairly small.  It’s been a while since I made and connected together afghan blocks so I don’t want something too large or, let’s face it, it’ll sit and fester in my WIP bag until my as yet unborn great great grandchild comes along, finds it, and finishes it for me.  The great part about making an afghan in small squares is that you can see it forming, but feel proud of the smaller completion feeling of finishing a square, rather than working for 10 hours on something that is 8 foot wide but only a couple of inches tall. You can see it grow, and feel the satisfaction.

This is the place where you will be able to find the various projects I’ve made as part of my hookers day off project, rounded up together:

January – March 2014 –  “Enough Love to Go Around” blanket.  Blogged April 2014.
and also, meanwhile, long term project “Mystery Super Secret Afghan Project” to be revealed Winter 2014.
